General FAQs

Do I require a passport?

You will require a passport for travel to Europe, that is valid for at least six months after the date you intend to return to Australia.

Important note on visas

During our Budapest to the Black Sea River Cruise, we visit Bulgaria and Croatia which are not part of the Schengen Area, and border controls are in operation upon entering and exiting the Schengen Area. Please check with the relevant country's tourism board to find out if you need a visa and/or any additional documentation for visiting these destinations

Do I require travel insurance?

It is your responsibility to take out appropriate travel insurance at the time of booking. It is a requirement of our booking conditions that every Riviera Travel passenger is in possession of valid travel insurance for the full duration of your trip. If you have not organised this yet, please make sure you are covered before you leave home. You are free to choose any travel insurance policy that it suited to your requirements.

Please ensure that your travel insurance policy covers you for any activities that you plan to undertake on your holiday. You should always carry your policy documents with you on your holiday. We would also suggest that you leave a copy with a friend or relative.

Please return the completed information form to your booking agent.

Your final Travel Documents will be sent to the booking agent 3-4 weeks prior to departure. These will contain your itinerary, cabin number, mooring points (with directions to where you’ll be embarking the ship) and more. We do not sell you lots of additional excursions that just add to your overall costs. For specific details of what is included, please see the relevant cruise page.
